Suzuki Guitar Lessons – Individual Lessons
Each guitar student receives one individual lesson per week. Each lesson includes tonalization exercise, review of the previous pieces and also introduces new materials. Parent plays an active role attending the lesson every week as well as taking notes and helps the student work on the material throughout the week of practice at home. Individual lesson is an opportunity to learn good posture, technique and tone. Suzuki guitar students can start learning at 4 years of age. The length of Suzuki guitar lessons depend on the student’s age, attention span, and level of advancement. Generally, beginners start with 20 minute lessons. As the student advances, the length of the lessons may increase. Students are eventually introduced to reading music.
Guitar students at the Institute also receive bi-monthly group lessons. The purpose of group lessons is to provide students with motivation, develop their self-confidence, teach them reading skills and music theory, and to have fun! Group lessons are often a student’s favorite music-related activity. The younger or less advanced students benefit from the modeling provided by the older students, and the older students enjoy being leaders. The informal learning situation and practice in front of an “audience” increases the self-confidence of all of the students. Group lessons are also an excellent opportunity for parents to meet each other and share experiences
Please contact the instructor regarding enrollment. Students are enrolled at the instructor’s discretion – the instructor may recommend that your child take the Explore Suzuki Music class before guitar lessons.
